Garmin screen sizes, model by model
Garmin watches do not all have the same screen, and the differences are bigger than the millimetre figure in the model name suggests. A fēnix 9 Pro 51mm has 466 × 466 pixels; a fēnix 7S has 240 × 240. That is nearly four times the pixel area, which is why the same watch face can look generous on one and cramped on the other.
This is the full list as of September 2026, taken from the Connect IQ device definitions rather than from marketing pages.

Three things the table tells you
The case size is not the screen size
A fēnix 9 47mm and a fēnix 9 51mm have the same 454 × 454 screen. The bigger case buys you a bigger battery and a bigger bezel, not more pixels. Meanwhile a fēnix 9 Pro 51mm is the only watch in the range at 466 px. If you are choosing between sizes for the display, this is the thing to know.
Solar models are MIP, and lower resolution
Every Solar variant in the current line-up uses a MIP screen: the fēnix 8 Solar, the fēnix 9 Pro Solar, the fēnix 7 family. That is a deliberate trade — a transflective display can harvest light and sips power, but it tops out at 280 px. The same watch face has roughly a third of the pixels to work with there that it has on an AMOLED sibling with the same name. What that means for readability is covered in the MIP vs AMOLED guide.
390 px is the most common screen Garmin ships
The 390 px group is the largest by model count: vívoactive, Venu 41mm, most Forerunners, MARQ, the smaller epix Pro. If you are a watch face developer deciding which size to test first, it is this one — and if you are a buyer looking at screenshots, be aware that store images are usually rendered at the largest size available.
Why your watch face looks different from the screenshots
A Connect IQ watch face is one piece of software that has to draw itself on every resolution above. Developers handle that in one of two ways.
Scaled layouts. The design is authored once, at one reference size, and every coordinate is multiplied by the ratio between that and the actual screen. This is how our own faces work: everything is drawn for 466 px and scaled down, so the proportions stay identical on a 390 px Forerunner and a 466 px fēnix 9 Pro. Text gets smaller in absolute terms, but the layout does not break.
Per-size layouts. The developer draws a different arrangement for each screen. More work, occasionally better results on the smallest screens, and much more likely to have an untested combination somewhere.
Neither approach changes the physical truth: on a 240 px screen there are simply fewer pixels for the same information. A dial with nine data fields that is comfortable at 454 px is genuinely tight at 240. If you are on a smaller or MIP screen, prefer faces built around fewer, larger elements — and check the store screenshots for your model rather than the hero image.
Round, and square, and what gets skipped
Every watch above is round with a square pixel grid, which is why a face can be written once for all of them. Garmin also sells devices this list deliberately leaves out: rectangular screens (the Venu Sq family, the Vívosmart band range), and screens below 240 px, where a data-rich watch face stops being legible. A watch face that says it supports 50 devices is usually talking about a list like the one above.
Checking your own model
If you are not sure what you have: on the watch, Settings → System → About shows the model name. Then find it in the table. Every ALLEZfaces design lists its supported models on its product page, and the compatibility section on the home page has the full list with the screen types marked.
Eleven watch faces, one licence each
Every ALLEZfaces design runs free for 7 days on your own watch, so you can see it on your wrist before you decide.
